Sol D. Kanthack, President

As a serial entrepreneur and an experienced executive, Sol has an operator’s mentality but understands the language and perspective of financial sponsors.  A unique combination of entrepreneurial skills and deep experience in technology, retail, manufacturing, finance and hands on management and operations makes Sol a valuable partner.  Always looking for ways to improve upon the model, Sol brings his extensive curated network of professionals and capital resources to bear for any opportunity.

Sol founded and led his previous company, brightroom, Inc., to become the largest ecommerce provider for endurance photography and related products in the world.  In 2012, he merged the company with Event Photography Group and worked with its private equity ownership to integrate its various divisions and form the global market leader.  Prior to starting brightroom, Sol worked in banking with Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan.

Through Left Dial, Sol invests directly and in partnership with private equity, working alongside management teams to help grow their companies by building out the team, developing strategy and sourcing and integrating M&A transactions.

Throughout his career Sol has established, managed and executed significant revenue generating partnerships with global brands such as: Amazon, Google, The Home Depot, The Walt Disney Company, Cisco, Bank of America, ING Group, Honda/Acura, Ford, Land Rover, the New York Road Runners (NYRR) producers of the New York City Marathon, Ironman Triathlon/World Triathlon Corporation, Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series/Competitor Group, Ingram Content Group, the American Booksellers Association, and Macmillan.

In his free time, Sol enjoys running, snow skiing, hiking and camping (all with a Land Cruiser at the ready) with his wife and three daughters and playing bass guitar in an alternative rock band, KYSER.  Sol received a BBA in Finance from Texas Christian University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with the Dean's Award of Distinction and degree concentrations in Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Finance.  Sol is an active member of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) both in the Fort Worth, TX Chapter and Internationally.

In looking for people to hire, you look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence and energy. And if they don’t have the first one, the other two will kill you.
